Our Story
Project MD was born from love, loss, and an unshakable hope for something better. After someone close to us passed away from muscular dystrophy, we felt the weight of helplessness, but we also felt a call to act. We had witnessed the toll this disease takes on families, how it steals time, dreams, and possibilities. In that moment, we made a promise: to build something that could stand against that pain; something that could bring light, understanding, and hope where there was once silence.
Founded by Sai Giridhar Chitturi, Dhruva Akkineni, Pranav Haribhaskar, Geetash Charan Muddara, Rishav Mukherjee, and Yuva Chitturi, Project MD began as a shared vision between friends, young people united by compassion and driven by the belief that change begins with us. What started as a small act of remembrance has grown into a lasting movement for awareness, education, and advocacy for those affected by muscular dystrophy.
Our mission is not only to support those living with the condition today but also to inspire a future where children born with muscular dystrophy can look forward to long, vibrant, and fulfilling lives. We dream of a day when treatment is simple, when cures are within reach, and when no family has to face this battle alone.
But more than anything, we dream of endurance, of an organization that continues to grow, evolve, and lead for generations. Project MD was built to outlive us, to carry forward our purpose long after we are gone. Because the fight against muscular dystrophy is not a moment, it's a movement. And it's one we'll keep alive, together, for as long as it takes.
